Interview and First-Day-At-The-Job
Signs that this Job Might be difficult
Signs
that the Interviewer May Not Offer you the Job
- The interview has just begun, someone buzzes your interviewer on the intercom, and he
tells them he'll be available in about five minutes.
- He tells you about the job without asking you any questions, or asks you a question and
starts speaking again without waiting for you to complete your answer.
- They give you a battery of personality tests to complete, and after you have submitted
some of your responses but are not yet finished, they start sweating and say they're
closing the office early.
- The interviewer argues that he doesn't feel he tricked you into attending the interview
on promises of an easy job just because the company is called "Three Day
Clothes."
If they Hired you Anyway, but at your First Day at the Job:
- They haven't checked your references. (No, that's not necessarily a sign that they trust
you).
- They tell you they can't afford the salaries of both you and your most valuable staff
member, so you must fire that person soon after you arrive, and you'll have to do that
person's job yourself along with your other responsibilities.
- Your performance criteria are all subjective.
- You find out they've given out a greater percentage of stock options than they have
stock.
- You don't speak a foreign language that they use in front of you, but you know they are
talking about you and you recognize words like "cochon" and
"imbecile."
- You arrive at work, and your boss says not to bother taking off your coat.
