DESCRIPTION: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) 

Sasco, one of the largest privately held electrical contractors in the country, which began in 1967, and is the best at what it does, has an immediate need for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This is a great opportunity for the right person. This is a high level position. (Maybe in the top 4 at Sasco).  We are a top 10% company – you must be a top 10% CFO.  If you are not, don’t apply. 

Applicants should have a strong financial and executive background and be substantially above average in natural intelligence.  This person must be a leader with their own high standards, driven to accomplish, a self-starter, who knows what they want, who wants to cause and shape change, and who wants to make a difference. The candidate must be willing to listen and learn. Must be willing to be mentored by the CEO, who is financially oriented and adept, and doesn’t need fixing. 

In addition, this person will be mentored by the former and current CFO who is supposed to be retired, and the CEO. This person will learn the methods and missions of Sasco before adding to the equation. Must be willing to walk before running. Must appreciate and respect teamwork and be a successful team leader.  Must be able to make the tough decisions. 

Job Duties: 

• Direct manager of the Chief Accounting Officer, Chief Administration Officer, Director of Job Cost and the VP of Finance. 
• Manage the overall financial reporting function for a $300 Million+ company with three main regions in Southern / Northern California and the Northwest.
• Hire, fire and train to assemble and maintain an outstanding staff.
• Prepare and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of Sasco’s management reports that are used to measure all aspects of the business.
• Persistent questioning and analysis of business systems and operations
• Direct the continuing implementation of Sasco’s Oracle Financial conversion.
• Think outside of the box to develop new / revised measurement tools.
• Oversee all banking, bonding, and audit relationships.  

Preferred Job Requirements: 

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial experience with ability to work in a hands-on manner in a stressful environment.
• This person must understand that to succeed in this position it is imperative that they are a good listener and learner and have excellent intelligence. These are important points as marked by the repetition in this message. 
• Exceptional natural intelligence and the incurable desire to climb the ladder are necessary.
• Proven track record as a high level achiever, through executive leadership.
• Construction industry financial reporting experience preferred.
• Possession of a CPA designation and a strong tax background is desired. 
• Superior analytical and presentation skills in order to successfully present company financial performance to a demanding audience.
• Experience with complex quantitative and qualitative analyses.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
• Must possess executive demeanor.
• Extensive knowledge of corporate accounting and reporting policies.
• Extensive skill in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.  

PLEASE NOTE:  This is not a typical CFO position. Sasco has considered all the options of being public, all the options of raising capital, all the possibilities of growth through M&A and decided it is not for us…… PERIOD. (It is also not close to a turnaround situation). While those may be fine experience factors to possess and may help a candidate in terms of overall knowledge, they are not at the root of this position.
