DESCRIPTION: Polaris is a growing management consulting firm that helps life sciences companies improve and automate their compliance, finance, sales and marketing processes. Polaris offers a suite of services that specifically target the compliance risks confronting the Pharmaceutical industry. Our firm employs a staff of 45 and is located in New York City.   

The Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Business Operations. This is a versatile position with a broad range of responsibilities, including billing and invoicing, payroll, cash flow forecasting, tracking of the business plan and tax planning.  In addition, the Accounting Manager is responsible for advising the Partners on opportunities to improve business operations through analysis of business processes/transactions. 

Responsibilities include:

Financial budgeting, cash flow forecasting and reporting

Month end closings: G/L postings, depreciation, accrued liabilities, bank reconciliation, A/P and A/R reconciliation to G/L, P&L and cash flow forecasts

Monthly reporting responsibilities: analysis of monthly operating results, prepare financial reports; income statement and balance sheet

Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables

Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements

Process monthly billing and payroll

Assist in the forecasting and budget preparation process and provide tax support for income tax return requirements

Developing and implementing process improvements and streamlining the closing process 

Qualifications:

CPA required, Bachelors degree in Accounting, 5-7 years experience in Accounting, Tax forecasting experience, process automation experience

Strong computer proficiency: Excel, Quickbooks, accrual accounting experience

Minimum of 5 years experience managing the finances for a professional services firm (consulting, technology, law, or architect) is a requirement

Attention to detail, well organized and systematic, strong planning skills

Creative thinker, with a strong background in Finance and Accounting

The qualified professional will be result oriented, organized, have the ability to work effectively, a good problem solver, very proactive when approaching work duties, the ability to relate well to all kinds of people inside and outside the company and you must be a team player
