DESCRIPTION:  INVESTMENT ANALYST - Investment Office  

This is a two year limited appointment position.

In conjunction with the Trustee Investment Committee, the Investment Office manages the University’s long term investment assets. The Office is responsible for all investment and operational aspects of this function, including asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager due diligence, hiring, monitoring, and termination, performance measurement. The Investment Office seeks an individual with superior organizational skills and attention to detail to fill its available Investment Analyst position.

The Investment Analyst will assist and support the investment team in due diligence, portfolio research, industry research, portfolio design and portfolio monitoring. Specific responsibilities in these areas include:

• Maintaining, enhancing and documenting performance measurement and manager monitoring systems;
• Researching and analyzing benchmarking and comparative statistics;
• Maintaining, enhancing and documenting risk analytics and management systems;
• Maintaining, enhancing and documenting database systems for tracking potential managers;
• Supporting investment staff in review of potential managers, reviewing of investment proposals and selection of outside managers, and preparation of investment memos and presentations;
• Participating in and contribute to investment staff portfolio planning meetings and analyst group training meetings. 

Job Requirements 

Basic Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree;
2. Strong systems orientation; knowledge of various computer languages and statistical programs (e.g. Matlab, Stata);
3. Excellent skills in Office suite and database applications;
4. Knowledge of investment related products (PerTrac, Private Eye).

Preferred Qualifications: Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or other quantitatively oriented field is preferred. Superior organizational skills and attention to detail are highly valued. The selected candidate should possess a strong work ethic that combines accuracy and speed; high productivity is a must. The ideal candidate will have a proven capacity to multi-task, deliver results and respond quickly and effectively to requests. The Investment Analyst should have a strong academic record exhibiting excellent analytical ability, strong financial modeling and quantitative skills. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills are a plus. A superior ability to present and communicate quantitative information is ideal as is a willingness to share ideas in a group setting. The selected candidate should be a creative thinker and a quick learner, with initiative and drive. The ideal candidate will possess the highest ethical standards: maturity and integrity required to work with sensitive/confidential information. The Investment Analyst should be a strong team player, possess a collegial attitude and be willing to perform a wide range of tasks. A graduate of Tufts University is highly desirable.

Special Work Schedule Requirements: Overtime around deadlines.
