DESCRIPTION:  This position is within the Controller’s Group (not Financial Planning & Analysis).

 This role will provide financial analyses to assist the Administrative functional groups' management with expense controls.  This role will conduct financial analyses around the Admin expenses to assist the North America Senior Leadership Team on managing their Monthly Projections.  It will control the consolidation of the North American Balance Sheet, which feeds into Working Capital and Net Cash Flow analyses.  It will also control the consolidation of the Income Statement and Projection Summary.  All FP&A responsibilities include the monthly actuals, monthly projections and annual operating planning processes.  

Reports To: Assistant Controller

Principal Accountabilities

1. 80% Provide financial analyses to assist the Administrative functional groups' management on expense controls.  Maintain the numerous and diverse Admin functional groups actuals, projection and plan files throughout the year.  Coordinate efforts with the various VP's and Directors.  These groups include:  Historically - NA based Executive Leadership Team, HR, IT, Finance, Credit, R&D;  Newly Formed - In-house Legal Counsel, Real Estate Group & Corporate QA to support Licensing.   FP&A
2. 10% Compile the balance sheet projections, including projecting some of the accounts.  Assist with working capital and cash flow analysis.  FP&A

3.  10% Compile the income statement projections, including the projection summary.      

Job Complexity

• Controlling IT Admin expense and capital spending is a unique challenge as a large piece of the spending is driven by requests from all the other Godiva Departments.  Controlling and allocating IT dollars equitably amongst the Departments requires the ability to educate others and possession of a strong resolve.  Obtaining an understanding of the technology, outside consultants, etc… functionality is required for this role too.  
• Building the original version of the Admin Plan requires a thorough understanding of the expense activities occurring in the numerous and expanding Admin Departments and being able to adeptly communicate this information to the diverse Admin functional groups.  Finalizing the Admin Plans requires being able to both identify cost cutting measures and diplomatically communicate these ideas to the respective Dept. heads.
• Controlling the Balance Sheet and Income Statement Consolidation process requires a strong understanding of the entire financial statements.  Also, required is the ability to analyze and diplomatically question the input coming from the rest of the Finance Team usually when the teams are all up against a tight deadline.   

Job Specifications

·        Minimum education required: Bachelor’s degree in Acct/Finance

·        Years of relevant experience: 5 years

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Financial analysis and proven ability to identify process and control improvement opportunities
• Experience working closely with Executive Level
• Strong interpersonal skills with substantial experience working on team projects
• Desktop and AS400 applications
• Spreadsheet/data bases

Working Conditions 

Normal office conditions with about 15% of interoffice travel (ie. Spring Ridge to NYC).  Travel is essential for meetings with the leadership team and other cross-functional teams.  Candidate needs to be open and flexible with travel.
