DESCRIPTION: Director - Tax Reporting

The Director Tax Reporting is responsible for insuring the accuracy and timeliness of tax related financial information in the companies financial reports (10Q, 10K, 8K, etc) as well as overseeing the timeliness and accuracy of all US federal and state corporate income tax filings. Responsible for assuring integrity and accuracy of tax accounts on companies books. The individual must collaborate effectively with external and internal stakeholders.   Overseeing and updating forecasts of the companies domestic income/loss will be key responsibility. The individual in this position will be a key contributor to the supervision, development, and performance management of tax staff.

Major Activities & Responsibilities:

Supervises and reviews the preparation of income tax provision and related analysis of income tax related asset and liability accounts, deferred tax analysis, and any related valuation allowances for the company and its subsidiaries as required for year end and quarterly financial reporting.

Monitors development of tax related financial reporting developments as they might impact current tax accounting standards.

Oversees quarterly and annual close process, assuring integrity of data and information and that timelines are well understood and met, and that results are clearly communicated to internal stakeholders (e.g. VP of Tax, Controller, Treasurer, CFO).

Assures that internal control processes are robust, information provided to auditors is timely and complete in accordance with quarterly and annual close process.

Oversees the preparation of the consolidated federal income tax return, any related partnership returns, all state and local income tax returns and annual report filings for the company and its subsidiaries.

Participates in company forecasting process ensuring that effective tax rates and tax assumptions used in these processes are correct.

Stays current with company’s financial system initiatives to assure that tax requirements are taken into account.   Plans develops, and coordinates the implementation of effective automated interfaces with existing systems. Stays current with developments in tax technology with a view to creating efficiencies in tax processes.

Supports business needs by providing value added advice that provides proactive, timely, and practical responses to business needs.

Key contributor in overall effective management of department.

Effectively collaborates with other tax functional areas to assure, accuracy, consistency, and transparency in reporting matters and that the financial statement implications of tax planning matters are fully taken into account.

Manages and develops staff through effective and timely supervision, training, performance management and appraisal. Creates employee development plans and provides opportunities for personnel to enhance their tax, accounting, and other technical skills.

Represents company in selected professional organizations.

Qualifications:

-Undergraduate Degree in accounting, Graduate degree in tax preferred CPA preferred 10 or more years experience in tax compliance/tax reporting area, particularly proficient in tax accounting including FAS 109, FIN 48 and SOX 404.

 -Mix of public and corporate experience preferred

 -Excellent communications skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.

-Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

-Responsibility for supervising group of highly skilled technically oriented tax professionals.
