DESCRIPTION:
Insight Executive Search has been
asked by a Midwest based International manufacturing firm to recruit a Director
of Planning & Analysis. This company is in fast growth mode! They have been in
business and a leader in their industry for over 75 years, but over the last
year they were purchased by a very strong investment group with a focus on
growing in to new markets, and increasing their market share in their core
market sectors. With a new company structure new challenges
arise, organizational changes, SEC reporting, and a focus on improved
operational efficiency, improved financial reporting, and most of all, keeping
the investors happy!
We are looking for a CPA with
strong technical accounting and organizational skills, someone with public
accounting or large corporation accounting experience, a leader with the
communication skills to partner with the operational leadership team, and
preferably someone that has experience with SEC reporting. If you bring these
skills to the table an want to put your thumbprint on the future of this
organization, we want to hear from you!
The Position…
The Director of P&A will be responsible for providing broad financial
analysis, guidance, and business knowledge to the manufacturing operations,
supply chain, and integrated platform leadership teams. The position is
responsible for leading a finance team comprised of approximately 40
individuals. Some of the key areas of focus include:
First and
foremost, be a strong and engaged business partner to the Senior V.P. –
Manufacturing and his entire operations leadership team while at the same time
ensuring transparency and timely communication of financial results and future
projections throughout the finance leadership team.
Work with and
across functional areas (operations, supply chain, integrated platform teams)
to identify opportunities for and aggressively drive continuous improvement
and efficiencies throughout these operations. Ensure a holistic approach to
determining that manufacturing operations decisions generate the most value to
the enterprise factoring in not only the manufacturing requirements, but also
the requirements of our other business segments.
Monitor and
challenge activities and spending against plan to ensure the best utilization
of the company’s resources and the achievement of the company’s strategic
vision.
Identify and
accurately analyze capital expenditure and other investment requirements to
ensure that they will realistically achieve our strategic vision and create
value for the enterprise.
Provide
timely reporting, analysis, and interpretation of key performance
indicators regarding performance against cost estimates, performance against
standards, labor efficiency, overhead performance, supply chain performance,
capacity planning, make or buy decisions, and forecasts and budgets. This
analysis will be essential for the tracking and management of performance and
to provide real time feedback on progress made towards achievement of goals.
Provide
accurate cost projections regarding the future cost of existing and future,
planned products.
Actively
partner with business units to properly manage inventory and other
operations-related invested capital and aggressively pursue initiatives to
reduce invested capital where appropriate.
Actively
participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Pursue the
development and integration of new or expansion of existing data systems /
tools to help the company manage the business.
Experience, Skills, and Education…
15 or more
years of relevant Finance or Accounting experience within a manufacturing
environment.
Working
knowledge of SAP or other ERP-level system.
“Fortune 500”
company experience preferred.
Graduate
degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
Strong
knowledge of manufacturing and plant operations.
Ability to be
an effective financial business partner to non-finance functions.
Strong
interpersonal skills to effectively interface with and influence varying
levels of management and numerous functions throughout the company.
Ability to
work with users at all levels to identify requirements and deliver timely and
accurate results.
Ability to
manage simultaneous projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines is key.
Strong and
effective communication skills to include strong verbal, written, and
presentation skills.
Dedication
and commitment to accuracy.
Willingness
to work the hours required to get the job done.
Strong
systems and financial model development skills.
Strong
leadership skills focused on ensuring superior performance within his/her
team, actively supporting existing talent development, and pursuing talent
upgrades where necessary.
