DESCRIPTION: Budget Manager
The Doe Fund is a leading New York City non-profit organization that operates

participants clean over 160 miles of streets and sidewalks every day. With a

homelessness, welfare dependency, substance abuse, and incarceration through
innovative work and housing programs.
Position Overview
The Budget Manager will lead the preparation of The Doe Funds operating
budget and oversee the monthly tracking of program expenditures and revenue
against plan. This position will oversee all contract and third party billing
and all billing activities related to grants, contracts and client
entitlements. The individual will work closely with Program staff to track and
report on the use of funds for the fiscal year and contract term.
Description:
Works jointly with program staff to develop The Doe Funds operating budget, and other contract budgets and assists in the preparation of budgets for programmatic initiatives and grant proposals.
Oversee monthly vouchers for contract billing.
Monitors variances to plan throughout the fiscal year by analyzing revenue from all funding sources.
Provides budgetary control and analysis to departments on an ongoing basis and manages monthly reporting process including distribution of financial reports including staff time billed to programs.
Conducts periodic review meetings with program and department managers to track project and grant-related expenses.
Assists in developing tools for financial decision making and to increase the effectiveness of program management.
Streamlines internal financial reporting and reporting processes to deliver more efficient, more effective, and more useful reports and analyses.
Improves use of technology and financial systems pertaining to budgets and third party billing.
Provides interim internal and external financial reports documenting the use of grant funds. Tracks deadlines and fulfills accountabilities in reporting to grantors.
Assists in monthly accruals/deferrals and monthly/annual balance sheet reconciliations as related to above core set of responsibilities.
Prepares/approves month and year-end audit schedules and journal entries related to core responsibilities.
Provides responsive regular and ad hoc reporting and analysis services to the senior staff.
Participates in funding agencies audits.
Prepares cash flow and budget projections; provide explanations as needed; generate Ad-hoc financial analysis as needed.
Development and maintenance of cost allocation methodologies and indirect cost rate.
Assists the CFO and Director of Finance on special projects and financial analysis.
Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
Requirements:
Graduate degree in Accounting with 8+ years of financial planning and budgeting
CPA and/or MBA a must
Lawson Experience Preferred
Experience in financial administration of government contracts in a multi-service non-for-profit organization.
Strong budgeting, analysis, projection and financial reporting skills
Strong computer skills including Microsoft applications and accounting software
