DESCRIPTION: Manager, Tax Planning and Compliance
To oversee the global tax planning and execution of a growing
multinational publicly-owned manufacturer.
Ensure complete and accurate consolidated tax reporting and US tax compliance,
and minimize the income, franchise sales and use and other such taxes paid by
the Company.
Manage all corporate tax matters as they arise; manage corporate tax department
and oversee tax matters through coordination with global company representatives
and advisors.
The Manager-Tax Planning & Compliance reports to the Vice President of Finance
and CFO.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other
duties may be assigned.
TAX PLANNING RESPONSIBILITIES/OPPORTUNITIES:
Study global legal structure to assess opportunities to minimize global taxes.
Maintain relationships with global company representatives (controllers) and
advisors to understand tax issues as they arise, and assess implications to
company overall.
Drive global transfer pricing assessments, in conjunction with operations
management.
Monitor opportunities to utilize foreign tax credits.
Research of miscellaneous corporate tax matters as they arise, such as issues
relating to potential acquisitions and divestitures.
TAX COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Federal, state and local income and franchise tax compliance for US and Canadian
entities. This includes preparation and filing of all annual tax returns,
extensions, and quarterly estimated payments as well as management of audits by
taxing authorities. Returns are prepared using ProSystems Fx for Windows CCH
software.
Preparation of monthly state sales and use tax compliance reports and management
of audits by taxing authorities.
Preparation of quarterly and annual current and deferred tax provision
calculations and disclosure requirements for financial statement purposes;
reconciliation of general ledger tax accounts; compliance with SOX procedures
and documentation.
Investigation and resolution of periodic inquiries from the IRS and various
state taxing authorities.
Research, evaluation and implementation of changes in US tax laws and financial
pronouncements impacting taxes.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Approximately ten years of corporate tax compliance and consulting experience,
relating to manufacturers, preferably with a combination of "Big Four" public
accounting experience and industry; international experience preferred.
Certified Public Accountancy license required.
