DESCRIPTION: Senior Financial Analyst
C&S, a subsidiary of The New York Times Company, is a
leader in newspaper distribution services in the greater New York metropolitan
area.
Reports to: Financial Director, C&S
POSITION SUMMARY
Perform analyses of financial information and preparation of monthly
financial reports of operations, budgets and forecasts by performing the
following responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
Principal Accountabilities:
All aspects of weekly reporting of all streams of revenue for C&S.
Ability to track and analyze trends and anomalies and reconcile fluctuations to
forecast and budget. Preparation of weekly
revenue forecasts to be reported to senior management.
Assist in month-end closing, including preparation of journal entries,
analysis of expense variances, and other requests from Corporate and Newspaper
Financial Groups.
Collaborate with operating departments to forecast expenses on monthly
basis. Develop tracking reports to analyze variances (forecast, budget, prior
year)
Preparation of various balance sheet account reconciliations.
Prepare and distribute monthly reporting packages to operating department
heads: responsibility statements, AMEX detail reports, etc.
Perform inventory of physical assets.
Assist in development and recording of annual budget and three-year plan.
Preparation of annual tax package, government reports as required.
Ad hoc reporting, analysis and special assignments as needed.
Education, Skills and Knowledge Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance required. 4-6 years of
accounting experience; public accounting experience preferred.
Capacity to understand, analyze and summarize complex financial data in a
clear concise manner.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work independently.
Ability to work in a team spirited, collaborative environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft EXCEL and Word required. Working
knowledge of Peoplesoft, Hyperion, Essbase and Admarc a plus.
