technologies and distribution of filmed entertainment in over 67 countries.
Description:
This position is responsible for managing the monthly general ledger close
process and reporting for SPE's Domestic
Home Entertainment distribution business. The distribution business focuses on
revenues, costs, and cash flows
associated with DVD, UMD, mobile and digital licensing sales of Sony Motion
Pictures, Television, and Home
Entertainment acquisition releases.
Detailed Responsibilities
• Hands-on management of the monthly general ledger close, including
consolidation of Canadian operations. Ensures
that all tasks are completed in an appropriate sequence and in a timely manner
to meet reporting deadlines.
• Oversees preparation of month-end Hyperion submission to Corporate, variance
analyses, mid-month flash reports,
monthly management books, participation statements, and other ad hoc reports
and analyses.
• Supervises and develops team of five senior and staff accountants.
• Works with internal and external audit groups to satisfy Sarbanes-Oxley
requirements, and help implement policies
and procedures for remediation as necessary.
• Works collaboratively with SPHE inventory, distribution control and credit &
collections accounting groups as
well as finance staff at other SPE divisions.
• Acts as liaison with IT on all initiatives impacting SPHE accounting, ranging
from broad development projects to
daily production issues.
• Identifies and implements opportunities for process improvement in order to
improve the quality of reporting,
strengthen internal controls, and gain efficiencies.
Requirements / Skills
• Bachelors degree minimum, with concentration in Accounting or Finance.
• A minimum of 9+ years public and/or private accounting experience required.
• Prior experience managing a general ledger close required.
• Superior Excel skills required.
• Experience with JD Edwards/One World accounting system strongly preferred.
• CPA is strongly preferred.
• Experience with SAP and Hyperion is a plus.
• Entertainment experience preferred, not required.
