As Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for key aspects of the monthly
forecasting & closing and annual planning processes, within the GMAC-RFC International
Business Group (IBG), conducting and documenting complex financial planning, forecasting
and ad hoc projections. This role provides leadership to international business units on
all forecasting and planning initiatives and may also provide functional advice or
training to less experienced financial analysts through out the IBG units. In addition to
the IBG business units, the analysts will work closely with the corporate finance teams
(Planning, Analytics, Reporting, Treasury and Risk Management).
Essential Accountabilities
Develop and coordinate the delivery of IBG guidance and process requirements for use by
business units when preparing forecasts and plans. Guidance and process requirements will
include the work plan steps and sequence, timelines, definitions of the data to be
reported, requirements for data reported, e.g. exchange rates, income tax rates, and
calculation formulas. The analyst will work with the corporate finance teams to align and
clarify deliverables. Consult with business units and Corporate Finance groups on the
forecast/plan process and materials and maintaining open and constructive communication.
Develop and manage the IBG administrative costs, intra business allocations and budgets
for the close, forecast and annual plan processes.
Consolidate IBG close, plan and forecast data on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
using information provided by the Business Units, validating selected information to
ensure compliance with corporate guidance and process requirements. Investigate and
resolve data issues with data originator sources.
Post managerial closing entries as required; run and monitor various month end close
processes. Provide corporate finance teams with required reporting and analytics and
provide IBG senior management with related analyses.
Develop models to evaluate and report forecasting accuracy and variance attributions,
e.g. impact of change in interest rates or volume assumptions.
Prepare planning and forecasting scorecards for the business units to support improved
forecast accuracy.
Participate in the development and analysis of special projects to assess or improve
operating efficiency or gap closure alternatives. Maintain and run a variety of recurring
reports using PeopleSoft and Essbase/Hyperion.
Requirements:
4 year undergraduate degree in finance, economics or accounting
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate
Masters in Business Administration (MBA) preferred
5+ years experience with forecasting and budgeting processes and controls.
Working knowledge of financial services or planning/forecasting processes
Detail orientated, highly organized and demonstrated commitment.
Independent and self-motivated.
Innovative and creative problem solving.
Demonstrated Team Player
International experience and or language skills preferred
Process and project management experience desired
Experience in mortgage securitization desired
Experience in implementing financial systems automation and controls desired
Superior communication skills
Willing to travel 15% of the time and be open to potential relocation.
