Under the direction of the IBG Lead Financial Accountant and Chief Accounting Officer,
the Lead Financial Accountant will work with IBG business groups in the U.K., Continental
Europe, Canada and Latin America, IBG change management, and ResCap finance and policy
teams to implement generally accepted accounting principle (GAAP) pronouncements to ensure
complete and accurate financial statements are prepared at all levels of the IBG
organization.
Essential Accountabilities
Responsible for delivery of required financial reporting deliverables to ResCap.
Consolidating and reviewing the financial reporting work papers/templates used for
preparing consolidated IBG and ResCap financial information for technical accuracy and
completeness.
Work with members of each business unit finance group to ensure requirements are
understood and to improve on the accuracy of reporting delivered to ResCap. This would
include the design and development of reporting templates that meet both the ResCap and
business unit finance needs.
The development/enhancement and coordination of internal control processes for preparing
financial statements across the IBG that ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley
requirements.
Implementing new and revised GAAP technical reporting requirements to prepare the
consolidated IBG financial statements.
Recommending changes/additions to IBG business group reporting requirements to ensure
compliance with GAAP reporting.
Assists with performing review of parent company SEC-related reporting as it relates to
IBG.
Liaison with external auditors with respect to IBG consolidated templates and supporting
documentation.
Work with ResCap to enhance the process to monitor and ensure accuracy of inter-company
elimination, consolidation and foreign currency translation entries in accordance with
enterprise control requirements.
Have key responsibility for developing and maintaining all Peoplesoft reporting.
Manage relationship with Corporate Systems group to ensure accurate GL maintenance for
all IBG business units.
Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance with suitable experience in accounting leading
to a recognized accounting qualification.
CPA
5+ years experience performing increasingly complex accounting duties.
Understanding of GAAP and general ledger related to the financial services industry.
Understanding of SEC requirements.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to effectively
interact/communicate with team members from various countries.
Ability to multi task and prioritize work/deliverables.
Commitment to meet deadlines.
International business experience desired.
Willingness to travel internationally up to 30% and willingness to relocate
internationally in the future.
Proficiency in foreign languages (Spanish, German, Dutch) a plus
