As Lead GAAP and Accounting Policy Analyst, you will support the businesses of the International Business Group (IBG) and to be a key partner in problem solving and financial change management. This position strongly supports the IBG Chief Accounting Officer and the International Business units by interacting with business contacts, the ResCap corporate GAAP, policy and change management groups, the firm's external auditor, and providing direction as needed to more junior staff to recommend and conclude on the appropriate accounting treatment for new or non-routine transactions. This role acts as a key financial control and is considered critical to ResCap, and will help with the implementation of the ResCap Corporation accounting policy manual.

Essential Accountabilities

• GAAP Issue Resolution
• Support the IBG Finance teams in leading GAAP issue resolution
• Function as a key contact for the firm's businesses with respect to GAAP questions & answers
• Act as the technical expert who aids the business units in determining the appropriate accounting treatment for unique, non-routine, or complex transactions
• Coordinate with the Accounting Policy team to ensure resolved issues do not conflict with existing Corporate policies
• Coordinate with the Change Management team to ensure that IBG change events are properly reported, tracked and documented.
• Ensure a complete and robust documentation set is centrally maintained for all GAAP issues resolved for the International Business Group.
• Liaison between the ResCap group and the IBG business units to ensure new & emerging GAAP are adequately identified and assessed and, as appropriate, communicated via the change management framework
• Provide guidance & direction to business unit finance groups to resolve business GAAP issues as needed or desired by the team Manager
• Manage the frequent maintenance and communication of the Group's GAAP issue/change management log to the appropriate levels of management

Requirements:

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting
• CPA
• Masters degree desired
• 5+ years of experience in financial accounting or auditing within a financial services setting
• Public accounting experience
• Accounting policy/GAAP research experience
• Exceptional GAAP understanding related to the financial services industry
• Proven leadership, process management and project management experience
• Strong organizational skills to facilitate an efficient reporting process
• Adept with FASB, EITF, SEC, and related industry accounting rules/policies
• Excellent analytical skills, organized, thorough and persistent
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, negotiating, listening)
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and to succeed under pressure
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and train others
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment (demonstrated team player)
