RESPONSIBILITES:

• Manage an External Reporting team of accountants.
• Responsible for consolidated and unconsolidated financial statements and footnotes, including issuance of these statements to the CFO/Board of Directors.
• Primary liaison with external auditors, lines of business and other corporate units. 
• Responsible for producing variance analyses and reports on quarterly financial results.  Work with staff to investigate unexpected or unexplained fluctuations. 
• Provide existing financial statement disclosures and propose recommendations to management regarding improvements. 
• Work with our Accounting Policy area to interpret the requirements of new authoritative accounting guidance and direct the implementation of related disclosures. 
• Provide financial reporting advice with in the MassMutual finance community. 
• Oversee review of filings of variable product prospectuses and private placement offering memorandums. 
• Review internal and external communications for financial content and accuracy. 
• Perform other analyses and projects as needed. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• College degree with a major in accounting. 
• 8 – 10  years of accounting/financial reporting experience.  (Big 4 experience and Life insurance experience preferred.) 
• Licensed CPA preferred. 
• 3 to 5 years of management experience preferred. 
• SAP experience is a plus.

This opening currently resides in Springfield, MA, however as organizations and their structures evolve, locations may be reevaluated and position location may change.  We are looking for candidates who have flexibility between MassMutual's three locations:  Springfield, MA, Enfield, and Hartford, CT.
