The
NYTimes.com is looking for a senior level financial professional to be responsible for all
accounting and financial reporting requirements of NYTimes.com and the digital archive
distribution business units
REPORTS TO: Chief
Financial Officer
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain
a system of internal accounting controls in compliance with 404.
- Perform
monthly accounting closings including journal entries.
- Review
and summarize monthly results of business operations including variance analyses.
- Prepare
and analyze various financial, profitability, and statistical reports for department
management, senior executives, and Corporate as needed.
- Coordinate
distribution of financial information for digital properties.
- Review
balance sheet account reconciliations and quarterly cash flow statements.
- Review
revenue reporting and accounts receivable.
- Communicate
with operating departments to understand, research, and report on all business
issues.
- Become
subject matter expert for financial performance and trends.
- Prepare
monthly revenue and expense forecasts.
- Coordinate
preparation, reporting and analyses of annual budgets.
- Maintain
financial reporting database (Essbase).
- Monitor
and improve performance of business units on specific Corporate goals (i.e., SSC metrics).
- Respond
to internal and external customer ad-hoc requests.
- Supervise
staff of two accountants.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A
bachelors degree in accounting (CPA required, advanced degree preferred).
- Minimum
four years of experience in accounting and/or financial operations (public accounting,
financial analysis, website operations experience a plus).
- Excellent
business judgment, ability to work independently, and strong analytical, relationship
management and communication skills are all critical.
- Proven
organization and planning skills, ability to see the big picture while managing the
details.
- Ability
to operate in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage competing priorities.
- Excellent
communication skills.
- Strong
computer skills including Microsoft Office are required.
- Knowledge
of Hyperion Essbase and PeopleSoft Financials a plus
